At 8:10 in Arkhangelsk, participants of the Movement 42 held one-person pickets so that citizens would be informed about climatic problems of the planet from early morning on their way to work and studies. The pickets are timed to the Global Strike for Climate - the day of the strike of eco-activists around the world. Activists lined up from the Solombala bridge, stretched for 5 km of Trinity Avenue, continued on the embankment of the Northern Dvina at the buildings of Northern (Arctic) Federal University (NArFU), on Uritsky street at gymnasium №21 and ended on Lomonosov Avenue at the educational buildings of NArFU.
— We are holding today's strike as a continuation of climate demonstrations that took place last week, from 20 to 27 September, when more than six million people came out to the streets of the world. Two days of strikes will not stop climate change, and so we continue to fight. In Arkhangelsk Oblast, the amount of atmospheric condensation increases, temperature changes occur more often due to climate changes. This leads to floods in villages, unstable ice crossings, storms, migration of ticks and wild animals, - said Anastasia Fomina.
She herself was in a picket line at the building of the FSB of Russia in Arkhangelsk Oblast. In total, 17 students took part in one-person pickets.
Global Strike for Climate and Fridays for Future are the climate protests demanding that the world community take action to combat climate change. The first actions took place in the summer of 2018, when Swedish schoolgirl Greta Thunberg, after record-breaking forest fires, decided not to go to school until the elections in Sweden on September 9. She sat in front of the Parliament building with a poster saying "Skolstrejk för klimatet" ("School Strike for Climate") every day for two weeks. Her demands insluded reducing Sweden's greenhouse gas emissions under the Paris Agreement. In 2019, the actions continued. From 20 to 27 September, protests took place in 4,5 thousand locations in 150 countries.
