A pro-government Telegram channel drew attention to the blogger’s post, prompting her to leave the region after a scandal. She was subsequently sought by the police.
The day before Agafonova’s arrest, Bashkir social activist Rasul Akhiyaretdinov urged authorities to 'cover shameful parts' of the Volgograd monument. "Our Mother - neither yours, nor mine - cannot look this way," stated the man in his appeal to Vladimir Putin.
