The authorities of Tomsk Oblast confirmed the death of conscript Maxim Chernyshev, who was undergoing compulsory military service, on the border with Ukraine. Officials stated to Tomsk.ru on February 15 that they 'don’t see reasons to be concerned about it.'

Tomsk Oblast authorities confirmed that conscript Maxim Chernyshev, who was undergoing compulsory military service, perished in Bryansk Oblast. The region’s Deputy Security Governor, Igor Tolstonosov, called the tragedy 'a one-time incident' and said that authorities 'don’t see reasons to be concerned about it.' He is not aware whether the deceased conscript’s family is eligible for financial compensation.

Maxim Chernyshev was supposed to serve as a driver in the Jewish Autonomous Oblast; however, after basic training, he was deployed to Bryansk Oblast, on the border with Ukraine. On January 18, he was taking a soldier who had sprained his ankle to a medical aid point. Maxim’s brother told '7x7' that militants of the Russian Volunteer Corps blocked the road and opened fire on the vehicle.

Since September 2022, conscripts undergoing compulsory military service are being forced to guard the borders with Ukraine. According to '7x7's calculations, at least 15 draftees have already perished in the Bryansk region alone.
